Classic Hat Makers List - The Fedora Lounge Perfect Hats The Perfect Hat Company of New York was known for its slogan "Good as the Name" Pilgrim The Pilgrim brand had a long and successful life as a brand of Sears clothing for men, first appearing in 1905, and hitting its high point in the 1940s Most Pilgrim brand hats were made by Lee for Sears, and the product line continued until 1964
MERCURY - WHEN WAS IT LAST USED? - The Fedora Lounge The constant exposure to the mercury gas was the culprit in the hat factories As the hats were being made, steam was used, and this leeched the mercury out in the form of a gas They breathed it, all day long By the time the hat left the factory, you would have found more mercury in a tuna sandwich And, few of us actually eat our hats
Busted Hat Company - The Fedora Lounge Most of my hat sales have been in the 7 3 8" size, I have had 3 orders in the 57 CM, 7 1 8", 7 1 4 ", I have sold about 20 hats so far, most were in 2023 and the sales have worked out pretty well, because I have been able to buy new fur felts, so I can make another hat
THE STEVENS SPOTLIGHT - The Fedora Lounge I have yet to see a thread solely dedicated to Stevens hats There are threads for Borsalino, Dobbs, Stetson, Mallory, ETC I thought since Stevens had been around for quite a while, it would be nice to see all the hats they produced throughout the 20th century and maybe if anyone had advertisments to help all of us date our beloved STEVENS hats

List of Custom, made-to-order, Fur Felt Fedora hatmakers and hatters Hopefully this isn't redundant, but I've done some looking around on the site and for some reason failed to find a 'definitive' list of custom, bespoke fur felt Fedora hatmakers There is some crossover with "Western" hatters, but for this list, I'll try and stick to the ones that make fedoras
Quality comparison among Resistol 4X, Stetson 4X . . . - The Fedora Lounge I have neither examined or test worn Resistol or Stetson hats while I own an Akubra, I ask for quality comparison of fur felt and assembly From pricing I have viewed, 4X Resistol or Stetson is as expensive as I can justify The nearest hatter is HHHH Hats in Darby, more than 100 miles south And Jimmy Harison sells only hats he makes - ultra
Recent experience with David Morgan. . . . | The Fedora Lounge The only qualm I have with DM is the $20 00 charge for shaping services, something other places (like EverythingAustralian) would do for free That said, it doesn't bother me that much, as I like shaping my own hats That said, they remain at the top of my list for purchasing Akubras, followed very closely by EA
Dating 30s 40s Stetsons by manufacturing label - The Fedora Lounge I will look for some examples that I have collected I will say that I have often tried to date vintage Stetsons by manufacturing tag and I have noticed that its not an exact science The "older" style and "newer" style were often used at the same time in many hats during that transition period and seems that there really wasn't any rhyme or
