difference in 429 and 460 - 460 Ford Forum 429 and 460 are basically the same thing as far as the 'early' 68-78 engines go 429 was made from 68 to 73, after that everything was a 460 only (except in large commercial trucks with had a "funky" 429 and 370 engines) The difference in cubic inches comes from the crank stroke
