What is too windy for training in a 172? | Pilots of America retman, I couldn't imagine flying a 172 in 40-50 knots at runway elevation I live in the Appalachians and it is often very windy here in these hills as well I'm definitely going to have to learn this stuff To be brutally honest, I don't think I want to fly solo until I feel confident in greater wind conditions than I was in today
172 vs Cherokee - Pilots of America What is always so complex to a new buyer is that the Cherokee line consists of a whole slew of different aircraft, while the 172 is, well, the 172, with very minor variations over the years (Exception: The up-tick to 180 HP That was a "big deal" )
Pros and Cons of C172 vs. PA28 Warrior Cherokee as training aircraft For a same year 172 PA28, it's same same as a training platform They're both good, stable platforms with good flight training characteristics Each has a couple advantages over the other, it all washes out Cessna has two doors, Piper has oleo gear for more forgiving landings
High CHT on Cessna 172 - Pilots of America Level in cruise the # 3 temp will drop to 410-415 the others around 350-360 I am replacing baffle seals on Monday Do you guys have any experience with the exhaust fairing that is STC'd for the 172 (I think from Maple Leaf) They claim a 20 deg reduction in CHT temps That is on schedule if the baffle seal replacement fails Any advice? Charlie
Cessna 172 long range tanks - Pilots of America The 172 RG's get alot of crap but his 15 year old plane (at the time) was pretty sweet It cruised at 138 knots, had a 180 HP lycoming with constant speed prop He owned it for several years and never had any problems with gear maintenance etc Really was a great long range airplane
172 airspeed base to final? - Pilots of America Most of my 172 time is in late model 172s For normal landings I always have used a 90-80-70 knot stepped speed approach for downwind, base, then final Easy to remember and it gives students target airspeed numbers
Cessna 172 Skyhawk - Backcountry Pilot What can be said about the Cessna 172? It's the reason the word "venerable" came into use First manufactured in 1956, the descendant of the 170 model took the general aviation world by storm with its "Land-O-Matic" tricycle landing gear and made ground control of light aircraft easier and more manageable than ever
172 vs 177 vs 182 - Pilots of America 172 is great for training or short trips with 2 people maybe 3 depending on weight 177 is a terrific plane if it has the 160 or better 180hp engine It handles better then 172, but it hasn’t been built since the 70’s and some parts can be challenging to obtain 182 is the winner of the 3 for range, useful load, speed, interior room
Modification index for Cessna 172 - Backcountry Pilot Re: Modification index for Cessna 172 Harry Dellicker was the "Del" in DelAir, very knowledgeable (and quite the talker) but he paased away several years ago I believe his son runs the place now, that might be the Chris you spoke to
