Mann, Mahle, Hengst- is one better than the other? Oil filters (for the time being) continue to be the Hengst for the 540 (only difference is the oem BMW Hengst oil filters come wrapped in a plastic baggy (with BMW markings) whereas the "commerical" or "retail" Hengst packaged oil filters come in a cardboard box I have purchases the Mahle, Hengst and Mann, and they all outwardly look identical
Mann vs Hengst vs Mahle filters | BobIsTheOilGuy I know that Mann, Hengst, and Mahle are all OEM filter manufacturers for the German marques For many of the German motors you can get filters from 2 of the companies or maybe even 3 The OEM in my motor is Hengst but you can get Mann as well OEM Hengst can be had as cheap as $14 and the Manns are like $16ish This is the filter style:
Hengst vs. UFI | BobIsTheOilGuy You cant just swap the cap, the filter stand is different You would need to change the whole filter stand oil cooler ass'y under the turbo to the hengst setup The difference between the two setups is that the UFI filter element has the bypass valve in the filter element THe Hengst setup has the bypass valve in the filter stand
Hengst Oil Filter Made in Poland? | BobIsTheOilGuy I recently ordered two Hengst oil filters for my 2008 VW Rabbit I have previously used Hengst German made filters but these new ones are made in Poland Subjectively, they don't appear as well made as the German ones, but I am no expert either Should I go ahead and use them or send ‘em back?
Hengst, Mahle or Mann | BobIsTheOilGuy Hengst, Mahle or Mann Mann is a better name Now sure how Hengst stacks up OEM ones because they are often made to the manufacturers spec and valve settings They might well be made by the same company, but not to the same standard due to exclusive supply contracts that restrict sales of a similar quality filter
BMW OEM vs Mann vs Mahle vs Hengst | BobIsTheOilGuy Strange enough, for my Saab, the original Saab, Mann, Mahle, and Hengst are all identical 100 percent and all from Germany On Mercedes, I've noticed Hengst being different as on the BMW example above Long time Mann was OEM on Mercedes, but their newest V6 (the 60 degree direct injected one) switched to a Mahle or Hengst for OEM, forget which
Mann, Mahle Clevite, Hengst, Bosch Premium, or Wix? . . . Motorcraft is . . . For the Jag, any of the Mann, Mahle, Hengst are top notch and basically interchangable with regard to filter quality, efficiency, cost etc Where do you prefer to source your filters? Big box auto stores are going to limit your choices and probably cost more Before FCP Euro, I got my Mann VW filters by the 12-pack for cheap on Amazon
Filter choices; what to use? | BobIsTheOilGuy Champion Labs Fram are owned by First Brands, so they’re basically the same company Mann makes filters for a few labels-Wix Purolator are two Premium Guard makes filters with LOTS of different brand names, there’s Baldwin, Hengst, Gonher, Purflux, a host of other manufacturers out there
Brand Ranks air filter test | BobIsTheOilGuy They should test the German and Japanese air filters I would still choose a made in Europe Mann Hengst Mahle where those are original equipment as they are specified for very high efficiency, very high holding and excellent construction quality
