Guy, I'm thinking that since the original used the formed sheet shells your plan sounds like it's going to result in a far stronger fuselage than required And likely a far heavier result than is wanted The original would likely have gotten a finish of something like silk or thin model covering nylon stuck on with a few coats of dope then

If you want a "brand name" motor then I'd suggest an E-Flite Park 450 to go with a 9x6 The climb won't be vertical but it'll be more than respectable And it's a pretty light motor and runs smooth as silk I'd run it on your glider with a 9x6 or 10x5

I have the Scorpion 2221-12 motor that is 2580kv and uses the stock 13 tooth pinion and 150 tooth main I has been a few years now since I have flown it but recently I spooled it up for some pictures and it is as smooth as silk I run my A109 with a throttle curve and not governed so I know it works in the real world Hope this helps Don
