Depends on what you want in an exhaust I had an original style Supertrapp on my KLR for about 3 months, and in fact just took it off about 2 weeks ago The difference in weight was noticable in side-to-side transitions while riding, but I finally figured out that it was just too loud on the street

i think the cheapest best bang for your buck on the xr exhaust is getting a baffle out of a honda atc 250r and using it on your stock pipe it is the same baffle and bolts right in but the outlet hole is huge compared to stock and the performance is excellent and sound is very quiet but just a deeper tone they dont make them anymore so you have to look for a used one maybe ebay or salvage yards

I put new exhaust packing in the Supertrapp muffler on my DR650 today Here's the process: 1 Loosen clamp at the muffler pipe junction, and remove frame mounting bolt 2 Tap clamp area with hammer, and spray with rust dissolver if needed, and remove muffler 3 Remove end cap bolts, I had 6, and cylinder core lock screws, I had 3 4

Exhaust gases flow through and to the side of the core into this packing material and its energy (noise) is absorbed "Repacking" a muffler SHOULD be an annual maintenance thing A factory muffler on the other hand uses metal baffles and chambers to absorb the exhuast gas's energy and do not need to be repacked
