The various SVO (Special Vehicle Operations) reds would be the ones to check out I'd have thought 'Fire Engine Red' would have been an industry-standard colour with a RAL code, although the RAL 3000 listed on that site isn't the correct shade SWEB Red and Post Office Red speak for themselves but may be along the right lines Jack

A number of other options were listed - fire engine (with forward mnounted pump) ,generator truck etc I have only ever seen the fire truck one though The booklet says smaller compressors would mount under the floor but larger ones were in the back taking up about half the load bay

Remove the red connector and check for oil contamination The oil interferes with the signals the ECU sees and leads to misfireds and sudden loss of power (return to idle!) If there is oil, then you have a failed injector harness It's a very common problem and easy to fix A replacement injector loom is around £35 and takes around 30 minutes

Oh !! That’s a good challenge Unknown wire - Just thinking about placement on my S3 - fog lamp or hazards ? There's no hazards on this but it seems strange it appears to be in the middle of the loom with no plugs at the binnacle end

The engine bay is always kept really clean and it has always been serviced by a main dealer (initially) or an independent I have not needed to get involved with fixing it, leaving time for my other smaller toys! I started to look at the fuel pump and discoverd that practiaclly the whole interior needs to be removed (7 seats) to even look at it
