- 7Cr17Mov vs 8Cr13Mov? - BladeForums. com
Generally, I prefer a more stainless steel for EDC Neither D2 nor 8Cr13Mov are great at resisting corrosion I typically prefer 14C28N, VG-10, or a good 9Cr18Mov While I don't expect 7Cr17Mov to compare favorably to those steels, I think the corrosion resistance may be valuable (at least when compared to 8Cr13Mov)
- Anybody know about this Chinese steel? - BladeForums. com
Since the Vanadium content is the only component differentiating regular 7Cr17 from 7Cr17MoV, I can only conclude it must be responsible for the rather significant increase in hardness properties Edit: A little chemical and elemental homework on Vanadium confirms that even a very small amount of Vanadium strengthens steel alloys considerably
- Gerbers 7Cr17MoV Stainless Steel. . . underrated? - BladeForums. com
My collection is primarily made up of low-cost knives that are made in China, such as S W, Schrade and Gerber, so I'd like to think that I have enough experience to give an opinion (or not) Anyway, personal experience is that Gerber's 7cr17 is not as great as S W's 7cr17 in edge holding
- 440c comparisons (where does it stand?) | BladeForums. com
Steel is iron with carbon added for improved hardness Stainless steel is steel with at least 13% chromium (by weight) added in to ward against rust (D2 is 12% max, hence why it is called an "almost stainless" tool steel) As per how 440c stacks up against other "basic" steels; 440c Carbon Chromium content = 0 95-1 2% 16-18% 8cr14mov has a 0 8
- Everyone know Chinese grade 7Cr17MoV 8Cr14MoV 9Cr18MoV???

- Recommendation? - 1. 4116 vs 7CR17 | BladeForums. com
Hello, I want to buy some kitchen knives from China, which steel is best between 1 4116 and 7CR17? P S : Links with products are allowed?
- Why the hate for 4116? - BladeForums. com
This is a steel that is still used in some multi-tool blades but at least in primary EDC knives, 5Cr15 is widely considered hot garbage in 2022 To be fair, 5Cr15 is a step up from 3Cr13 but also a step down from 7Cr17 The former is widely used in Walmart's Ozark Trail series, which might cost between $5 and $10
- 9Cr13 Steel - BladeForums. com
I know that under the name designation, it should be *roughly* 9% carbon and *roughly* 13% chromium (this may be the wrong element), and I was wondering what commonly known steel this steel would perform like I know proper HT 8Cr13 performs like AUS-8 (not the same, just similar) Any
