They hold themselves out as being the best plastic lenses available The Costa 580's are polarized glass I have been using glass lenses (Costa's and Raybans) for 30+ years without issue, so I don't buy their hype that glass is too heavy or unsafe Opinions may differ, but even they don't say they are optically better than glass
