When the whole oil sludge thing came about for the a4 1 8t , they said if the oil pressure light comes on and starts blinking to pull over your car immediately and have it towed to the nearest dealership to prevent damage They also said if this happens to have it checked for oil sludge Not sure if this qualifies for A3's though

Yeah I only hear it at slow speeds A4_2000 I can tell you I doubt its the control arms because I just re-did all of mine and the noise came back I wouldnt say a hollow clunk, really more of a rattle, quite bizarre The consensus seems to be upper strut mount, what exactly is that? I removed the entire strut assembly when doing my control arms
