- The RB Engines: 383 - 413 - 426 - 440 | Allpar Forums
The 413 Max Wedge package was replaced by a 426 Max Wedge, sold in Stage II and Stage III versions; these engines, intended for racing, had special blocks, rods, crankshafts, pistons, heads, valves, valve gear, intake manifolds, carburetors and exhaust manifolds
- Max Wedge: Maximum Output - Allpar Forums
These parts made the 413 Max Wedge cars all but unusable on the street, but on the track the results were immediate The 1962 NHRA record books show four class records established by the 413 With the correct gearing and tires, mid-twelve-second passes became commonplace Further Refinements
- 413 passenger vs. truck - Allpar Forums
The heavy-duty truck engines were the 413-2 413-3 They had special materials for valves, hardened valve seats positive valve rotation High-strength metals (drop-forged) and manufacturing processes (shot-peened) for longevity under hard work and high temperatures There were industrial marine versions as well
- 413 question? - Allpar Forums
Lowest 413 brake horsepower rating was 340 with a single 4-bbl (from 1962 thru 1965 -- earlier versions were 355 hp); the Max Wedge was rated at 420 hp Cross-Rams were pretty potent, too I think they all used Carter AFB carbs
- Flat Head Engines: Plymouth-Dodge-DeSoto-Chrysler Six. . .
Larger trucks used another family of in-line flathead six cylinder engines There was a 331 cubic inch and a mammoth 413 cubic inch lugger was available in the T series and up There may have been another engine in the 370 CID range, but I am not sure about that The 331 was highly regarded in trucking circles as a durable, hard working engine
- 413 distributor help - Allpar Forums
The 413 also came as a medium truck engine and the distributor came minus a vacuum advance The distributors for the high GVW trucks had very lazy and restricted centrifugal advance curves to allow the use of lower octane fuel and save the pistons while sparking a heavily loaded engine
- The Cross-Ram Wedge (Long Ram 413): 1959 Dyno Tests
The final 1960 413 engine produced 375 horsepower and 495 lb-ft of torque Our source wrote: "the dyno tests were conducted in cells 12 and 13 of Building 135 in the old Highland Park complex " The test sheets were found nearby, apparently discarded
- 413 compatability???? - Allpar Forums
I'm thinking that the 413 is a RB (raised B block) As all RB's had a 3 75 stroke, the cranks and rods are dimensionally the same Probably the same with the intake B blocks had a shorter deck height and shorter stroke (361-383-400) Shorter deck means B and RB intakes don't interchange Thanks Randy
