- Help with Exposed Aggregate Concrete Patio
I just moved into a house that has a rough exposed aggregate concrete patio (150 square feet) It's awful to walk around on I'm considering the following DIY remedies, but if anyone has tried to smooth out aggregate (literary I can almost pick out the rocks - it's original from 1971) I'd love advice 1
- Concrete, crushed aggregate, or soil? What to fill post hole with.
Here's what I was thinking pea gravel 2" around post then pour 2 bags concrete I did this on a few posts then noticed after a rain storm the water just pooling and sitting on the top of the concrete I was originally just going to top the holes off with aggregate but now I don't know The soil is clay here

I will be drilling 52 holes in this exposed aggregate so the more accurate the better I do have a roto hammer as well, the issues is not my tool is the bit itself walking on the aggerates before it starts to actually drill

Initially I thought that it was staining (like mildew) because the underlying color is black But then I noticed that the downspouts were depositing large amounts of shingle aggregate at their bases after a heavy rain I then inspected using binoculars and it's clear that the black color is due to missing aggregate Otherwise the roof looks normal

We had a new driveway and walkway poured 7 days ago It is exposed aggregate that looked OK wet when first washed to expose the small rocks As it dries cures, however, the surface appears splotchy as if the washing was not consistent or complete It looks as though the small rocks were exposed more in some sections and less in others
