The major advantage is acoustic especially with a suppressor For everything else, 7 62x39 reigns supreme Its no different than the little 22, for my small varmint uses, 22 short subsonics get it done and are as quiet as a pellet rifle, but not worth a damn for bigger stuff or anything outside 30 yards

Yes, the 5 cell was the earliest type and was issued with type 1s and type 2s, produced from ~ late 1949- ~ early 1955 After this the AK was issued with only 4 mags up until the present day, the 4th slot of the AK-74 mag pouch was for spare stripper clips Both of those ink stamps are factory Russian, looks like yours is 1951 production
- Changing Barrel | AK Rifles
So, my only question is: Can anyone tell me the name contact info of an experienced AK 'smith who can put a new, accurate, threaded barrel on a Bulgarian (Arsenal SLR-95) milled receiver? A local AK guru who, unfortunately, no longer does AK work, said the milled receiver makes this a real witch (and you can correct my spelling) Thank you, Richard
