I have owned 4 Two straight ASM's and two American Frontier Firearms that were made from ASM parts All were shot with BP exclusively and three now have cracked frames All three are cracked in exactly the same place I have heard of this issue on at least two others

ASM Parts may well not even fit ASM Guns The QC was that bad Most anything will require fitting Some Pietta parts "may" fit an ASM but will require some fitting I would not expect ASM Parts to work in either Uberti nor Pietta If one has an ASM Don't Break it Some have had luck with some really strange bedfellows

The thing about the ASM guns is that they had a quality control problem You could have a good gun(s) or a problematic one The upside to ASM's is that they are probably the closest to being a true copy to the original Colt Model P of any of them I've been told that original Colt's parts fit these ASM Model P's, however I cannot attest to that

The ASM "1860" did not have the stepped cylinder The only difference between those and the "1851" was the Barrel ejector assembly As close as one could get to a Richards Conversion without spending mega bucks for a custom job
