So I re-installed the latest VLC as of today (vlc-3 0 17 3-intel64) for good measure, and tried again But no luck -- still the instant 100% CPU spike I would really love to solve this as I prefer to VLC over any other media player, but cannot use it with this issue

I was checking today again if by any chance VLC has enabled mac display profiles support so that we could actually use it on a Mac system Sadly it is still not color managed by default (meaning that 100% modern mac users are still getting wrong oversaturated colors) However I've found hidden in the extended preferences a pane for display output modules - OSx tab which has the settings
