- Angband - newbie : r roguelikes - Reddit
Hi all New RL player here and just started Angband yesterday I'm still learning the basics, there's A LOT of information in the manual which I'm slowly reading through In the meantime I've got a few questions if someone could help me out with (I play with a tileset) - questions with strike-through have been resolved in the comments ALL ANSWERED!

Probably YASD, but I've only run into ancient dragons twice in Angband including this one, so I just wasn't prepared and didn't know I should have run for the hills (The other encounter was Scatha the Worm, who came along with an ancient WHITE dragon: I dispatched the white dragon but my encounter with Scatha did, um, not go well, shall we say)
- Where is Angband- Solved. : r tolkienfans - Reddit
This puts Angband off the map to the north at 2 7 "boxes" due north There is no reason to move the position east or west, just north Tolkien specifically placed Angband due north on two of maps That part is consistant Map B (Tolkien's colored 1930 sketch) shows the same 065 degrees from Sirion's Well North-east to Angband This is too far
- Can someone explain the different Angband variants? Keen to . . . - Reddit

- Best Angband variants and why : r roguelikes - Reddit
I remember playing hundreds of hours of vanilla Angband around 20+ years ago (3 8 1 maybe) For all its exposed defects, Angband is what captures the roguelike nostalgia the best for me Sure, I like Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup, DoomRL, Brogue (somewhat) etc, but I would like to recapture the feeling of Angband while potentially solving some of
- Does Moria have any advantage over Angband? : r roguelikes - Reddit
For all that Angband is still afflicted with the old 'too many keypresses' syndrome of old roguelikes, it's at least slightly easier to use than Moria It's possible that the game itself is harder too, lacking superpowered artefact gear I haven't finished either game, but I've got a lot further in Angband than in Moria
- Is TOME a Angband variant? : r roguelikes - Reddit
Tales of Middle Earth, a k a ToME2, was an Angband variant Like most Angband variants its setting was a mishmash of lore from Tolkien, Zelazny (due to ZAngband), other fantasy novels, and some novel inventions Tales of Maj'Eyal, a k a ToME4, was programmed from scratch with an entirely original fantasy setting You can see a fair degree of
