The engine data plate is stamped O-540-B2C5-C-A1D5 The A1D5 engine is the Comanche 250 engine, but you can't just hang an -A1D5 engine on the PA-25 without approval, normally done by STC

We have an O-540-B2C5 235HP, upgraded to 250HP by STC with different pistons and I think exhaust valves It is now an O-540-B2C5-A1D5 The A1D5 engine is the 250HP version of the O540 that is in the Comanche, same case, so it fits Then you need the STC that approves the install of the modified engine on the Pawnee

Sorry tom that ain't what lycoming says, "new, rebuilt or overhauled engine should receive the same start, warm-up and pre ight checks as any other engine There are some aircraft owners and pilots who would prefer to use low power settings for cruise during the break-in period This is not recommended A good break-in requires that the piston rings expand suf ciently to seat with the cylinder

The prop was sent out to our prop shop and overhauled prior to installation me - wondering about "flushing" as it was explained to me that engine oil pushes a piston left or right for prop adjustment Is it possible to get engine oil prop oil cross-contamination? The oil lines were all new prior to installation
