- Do any Balaclavas or face masks or gaiters not freeze up right away . . .
Hello, We've been blessed with snow here in Park City Im using the Blackstrap balaclava--I like it ok on cold days--but when its snowing--its wet and frozen by the 2nd run Do any of the face coverings--balaclava or gaiter work any better? Thanks for your input!

I used to use a Polartec balaclava combo thing, thick around the neck and thin under the helmet but it wasn't long enough to really cover my face enough when I needed it

To all my follically challenged compadres out there What balaclava do you recommend to keep the head warm (not hot as I perspire quite a bit), and still fits under a helmet? My helmet is pretty snug right now, so thinking bulk my make it not fit (or I get a new helmet) Thanks all!

My old man wears a balaclava on uber cold VT days and that certainly keeps out the wind You are far more likely to get cold on a windy day from goggle gap and an ill-fitting helmet matched with the wrong goggles I stick with same brand systems to avoid this, but it's not vital

That Dissent balaclava looks nice I prefer a separate item to cover my face, that way when it’s not needed, I can remove it I use both the ‘bandana style” that has no openings but hangs away from your face, or the pure face mask with nose and mouth openings I manage without fogging using those

Patagonia R1 Hoodie is the best piece of outdoor gear I own Warm, low profile, fits under helmet, has built-in facecover balaclava I wear it hiking, biking, snowshoeing, skiing, ice-climbing, etc I have a few of them The old version (prior to last year) had an off-center face zipper which is great for staying out of your mouth nose

After reading through this thread, I'm wondering how much gear a lot of people think they need for a ski trip that involves travelling by plane? I regularly travel overseas from NZ to ski We're usually away for at least 2 1 2 weeks at a time We will normally hit at least two to three different
