So is there any benefit for the lasting wear or finish on a revolver by getting a stainless steel gun over a blued gun or vice versa? Besides the aesthetics?

I would like to hear from others on the removal of very light rust on a blued surface I have, in the past, successfully done this starting with just an oily cotton cloth, to 0000 steel wool with oil, and so forth But I don't want to do any cosmetic damage, and I'd like to hear others'

I bought my first one in 1973, a 6" Blued Security Six (since they hadn't started making the stainless steel ones yet ) and paid $97 50 out the door in the UP of Michigan I sold it in 1990 for $250 to buy my first GP100 Today, that gun would bring $450-$500 here in PA easily The Six series revolvers are actually pretty easy to work on

I know the Ruger Mini-14 started out as a blued steel only offering, but their stainless steel renditions came into the fold quite early on So, overall, from 180 through 580+ series minis, do you folks believe the stainless and blued total mini numbers are likely about equal, or does one

I was fondling some GP100's at the gun store today They had both the blued and stainless in 6" and I noticed that the stainless seemed just a tiny bit heavier I also noticed that the top strap on the stainless version looked like it was just a tiny bit thicker I suppose both of these

The only blued gun I carry regularly is my Beretta 25 Bobcat but that's Bruniton not blue The rest of my main carry "arsenal" is an SP101, stainless 2 3 4" Speed Six, NAA 22 LR Mini,and a 4" S W 64-7 on occasion
