Regular Bow is weaker, however it has higher fire rate and enchanted bow is second strongest weapon in game Regular crossbow has little more dmg than regular bow but it has shit enchantments and unless you will start using tipped arrows (on Java it's not worth the trouble) or overpowered fireworks you are on mercy of every enchanted bow owner

The Flamed Iced variants have the most but the dragonbone and diamond are not too far off and could be used I generally just stop at diamond because that's around when you fight a dragon and I don't want to enchant another bow for more durability Especially when durability is a non-issue after getting mending

Yes The higher the level on enchantment + the more you add to the bow will make it more expensive Also more expensive to fix aswell, bare this in mind Power 5, infinity, unbreaking are the main ones you want maxed The rest are luxeries that add advantages Like flame will cook the food Punch can knock mobs back, even off cliffs to their doom

This is pretty much it if you're strictly looking for a bow-type weapon (there are some pretty gnarly spells staffs between Mahou Tsukai and Ars Nouveau) You can also make some custom ammo from Silent Gear with max grade supercharged materials then enchant to never need to make them again
