Because a lot of my colleagues work part time, schedule fewer than 20 patients a day, work in academics, or work for an employer that doesn't pay anywhere near $53 wrvu Many of these choices are explicitly lifestyle considerations

Depends on academic vs private practice and location ( academic doesn’t pay well) My husband graduated 2 years ago from Endocrinology and currently is working in a big city of Texas and got guarantee salary of 220-230 k the first year ( private practice) But 1 year after He builded his pt’s panel He is making around 280 k working 4 days a week

I did get a call from one private group that strongly believed that salary plus productivity bonus would be around $600,000 but I did not look into that offer due to geography I have had some other recruiters call me and suggest $300,000 incliuding salary and bonus All in all, I find demand to be strong in rural and mid-size cities

If you then work 4 5 days week with that (36 patient facing hours a week) and you take 4 weeks of vacation, that is 6048 wRVU a year - quite a bit above the national endocrine average Median endocrinologist in private practice makes about $50 wrvu total compensation, so that would come out to roughly $300k Lot of assumptions in that math though

After 15+ yrs you should be financially independent and cut down your hours to 8 12 hrs shift month (with a reduced salary ~150k yr) There are good hospitalist jobs out there where people are seeing ~12 patients day and have NP PA and SW who do the scut work that most hospitalists don't like
