The 500 cr on the 1984 parts sheet has z= that is the tooth count The wr would be the same as later on in that 81-88 teck data pdf file when more data is published The bikes came with a manual but the specs came on a two sided card for exactly what was purchaced, kind of complicates things

CR stands for Close Ratio, WR stands for Wide Ratio (as far as gears go) The CRs were the MX bike because closer gears equals better acceleration in the tight corners etc of MX type racing The WRs were used for Enduro because the wider gear ratios built up to a higher top end speed in the open runs, and other gear such as lights and speedometers

They mention a 12T front sprocket on the four speed that gives it more bottom end I think a six speed cr or wr tranny is the way to go With a larger front sprocket I think it's easy to over rev the 500 Can't wind it out like the smaller cc engines It's all torque power Everyone says the 500 is a beast that most couldn't handle

I think there is a complete CR ignition off an 01 on Ebay They have the price way out of whack for 11 year old used electrical parts but send them a message that when you are done screwing around with the exorbitant price, I will offer you a fair price Timing is unchanged to current CR model so it is just a matter of mounting it up sano

The magazine you are looking for are Motocross Action September 1981, Motorcyclist March 1981, Dirt Bike September 1981, and Cycle World July 1981 all have good articles on the 1981 CR 430 Husky The MXA magazine calls it the best all around Open class bike on the market and that magazine also has a short article on Husky CR 430 vs Suzuki
