Reddit and Hackernews are terrible by default at distinguishing between content you've already read or haven't (i e they can't really, or at least reddit can't without paying for it) and at filtering content based on what you actually want to see

Last I used it HackerNews didn't allow for a "description" of the content, just the title, or am I wrong? Hence there is no way you can actually present the content rather than giving it the title The content should speak for itself This is debatable because nowadays most of the content depends very much by how easy understandable it is
