GrLevel3 only displays level 3 radar, which is a lower resolution than level 2 GrLevel2, as the name suggests, displays only level 2 radar Downloading level 2 radar files takes up much more bandwidth than level 3 to the point that its still impractical to use level 2 while you're out in the field

Under products on the left, click on GRLevel3 and GR2Analyst to see the difference GR2Analyst is the same as GR2AE (AE stands for analyst edition ) This will explain the difference between the two a lot better than I can If you want to chase with radar, level3 is the best because it doesn't require as strong of a data signal as GR2AE

GRLevel3 uses the "strength rank", SR, to choose an icon The first icon is shown for SR values of 1-2, second for SR values 3-4, third for 5-6, fourth for 7-8, and fifth icon for 9 and above Here is the image used for the default nmd icons:

I recall GRLevel3 being smarter about updates than just polling frequently It calculates when the next update should be available given the last timestamp and what mode the radar is in Barring an upstream slowdown an update should be available reliably

I own both GRLevel3 and Storm Predator, I used Storm Predator only once before I uninstalled it Storm Predator is just a radar application made to look sexy, eye candy rather They even go as far as adding in a fake beam sweep to make it even more sexy looking I don't think SP is even worth the cost Definately go with GRLevel3

I tried such numbers as Com 10, 11, 12 15 and 17 without success Finally, I made Com 1 and 2 virtual ports and GrLevel3 saw them and accessed the data I guess GrLevel 3 only sees Com ports with low numbers GrLevel3 cannot access GPS data from Com ports that are already being used by WXWorx and DeLorme Bill Hark
