- Yet another grinder thread . . . . - KnifeDogs. com Forums
I love my Reeder grinder, though I've not use other brands Among the basic requirements of: 2 tool arms and direct drive with VFD, I put a lot of value in Don Reeder's many years experience in the machine tool design business He knows how to design and build quality tools
- Platen Assembly Modifications | KnifeDogs. com Forums
I thought I'd show a recap of some modifications I've made to the Reeder grinder platen assembly As a hobbyist knife maker, I enjoy making tools and modifying equipment about as much as knife making My grinder doesn't stand the test of full time knife making, but it does get used hard for lots of other projects
- Pheer or Ameribrade Grinder | KnifeDogs. com Forums
I do know that a lot of people who built the GIB grinder ended up seeing a significant improvement with tracking when changing from the original rear spring design to a front compression spring I imagine it may be possible to over-extend a tension spring and weaken it more easily, than over-compressing a compression spring
- Comparing Grinders. the 2x72 type | KnifeDogs. com Forums
The ONLY single speed grinder I can imagine is a dedicated high speed grinder for 5,000 SFPM (and faster) grinding With only 1 grinder, VFD all the way! Ed and I don't totally agree on the Chinese VFD drives
- WIP: Full Featured 2x72 for under $1500?!? Housemade Gen 4 Revolution . . .
The tooling required to build it is likely things you already have, and if you don't you will use it beyond this grinder build, so it is all good money spent The welding may be a dealbreaker for some but it's all easy stitching, and if you have been wanting a welder this is a golden opportunity to pull the trigger on that, too!
- Shocking Grinder - KnifeDogs. com Forums
If I keep a finger touching the back of the platen, it doesn't seem to be an issue I probably need to double check my ground, as the machine SHOULD be grounded back to the panel, as the motor chassis is grounded, and directly connected to my grinder I remember one time I kept feeling a zap every time I bumped into my metal workbench while
- dust collectiors and spark arrestors | KnifeDogs. com Forums
Well, the good news is that the only thing that should be throwing enough sparks to burn anything is your belt grinder I can't see a surface grinder removing enough material (vs the proportionality of air flow) to ever be an issue A water trap at the belt grinder inlet would keep the belt grinder from clogging the air duct with debris, anyway
- Bevel grinding, what am I doing wrong? | KnifeDogs. com Forums
When it comes out of the 2nd tempering cycle I'll probably hand finish it except for the final edge bevel I think my best bet for now is going to be using the grinder for profiling, rough bevel grinding, and sanding the handles but I'll do the detail work by hand for more precise control Here's a picture of the one I'm working on now
