- Best app (or Handbrake settings) to rip copy DVDs?
I have to ask - vob files, m2ts files (bluray) and such, all start as compressed files When going through Handbrake, the files are not "decompressed" first then re-compressed with the Handbrake settings selected Rather, they are compressing an already compressed file That translates to loss of information or lossee files as a result
- Handbrake 1. 4b1 and DVDs on M1? - MacRumors Forums
Handbrake is good for this as it supplies a load of options for compressing The opposite of archival quality would be to use something like H 265 (Videotoolbox) which uses the lower quality hardware encoder on the M1
- M4 Mac Mini nearly 30% slower at hardware encoding than 2020 Intel i5 . . .
Using the Handbrake 1 9 0 that reckons is upto date Encoding an FCP X master file output mov file with the H 265 Apple VideoToolBox 1080P default preset and ALL filters are Off Encoding at 340fps on M1 Studio Base System HandbrakeXPCService is using 868% CPU Handbrake itself is 0 4% VTEncoderXPCService is using 8 4% 96 11Gb Source File 1080
- AV1 encoding test - MacRumors Forums
I haven't seen any benchmarks of the Pro Max M3 encoding in AV1 format, since hardware encoding is new on the M3, so I thought I would try it since Handbrake 1 7 supports AV1 encoding now I took one of my own movies in M4V format, it runs 1:18:44 in length I ran the 3 encoding choices for
- M1 handbrake performance very disappointing. . . - MacRumors Forums
In other threads, I posted my disappointment in the M1 (Mac Mini) with SW encoding on Handbrake versus my Late 2012 iMac with the 3rd gen i7 Using the same source data, I tested Handbrake on multiple computers (Intel and M1), mostly Macs, with different levels of encoding
- Pro Logic II VS. Dolby Digital in handbrake - MacRumors Forums
HandBrake uses the faac encoder for aac which has a limit of 160 kbps for a stereo track which includes dpl2 So not only do you get the benefit of the true 6 channel separation from using ac3 5 1 but you get the higher bitrate as well One other note on dpl2 It is actually 5 0, there is no interpretation of the LFE channel
- M4 32GB or M4 Pro with faster 24GB? - MacRumors Forums
The general consensus at this point is that Handbrake software encoding produces better quality results, compared to hardware encoding (Which is faster though), so I wouldn't put my bet on that personally That being said, even if Handbrake is priority, I wouldn't use it as a reason to go for the M4 Pro
