I initially thought they were starfish but after doing some digging on the internet I think they’re Hydroid Jellyfish My tank is approx 7-8 weeks old Could that be the reason for them and I’ve read that they appear on newer tanks and disappear when it comes more established

Just to finish the thread, I have not seen another hydroid since the plucking and puttying over I removed some of the putty and have seen no signs of reappearance from underneath either I would say this appears to be a good method of removal, at least for small populations Dan

What type of Hydroid do you have? Most Nudibranch also only eat one type of Hydroid but I have found that Cratena peregrina eats all Hydroid types You will have to ask you're LFS if they have a wholesaler in the Mediterranean Sea that is where the Nudibranch comes from

I would try to replace the rock slowly, and the rock you cant replace I would try using kalk paste on hydroids Thre are other things you can do like add some filter socks, feed the tank less, don't broadcast feed corals or fish, feed you fish only pellets or wash the frozen mysis shrimp before feeding your tank there are also these limpets that eat hydroids, but I think they are pretty

at first I thought they were some sort of little spiders or mites but after using a macro lens on the glass it doesn’t seem to be a spider (looks more like a snowflake through the macro lens) Now I’m thinking they’re hydroid jellies Sigh lol you can see their size in comparison with some of the copepods next to them
