As mentioned in my first reply, you can use the free version of Plex Media Server to stream your own content on your home network If you are being asked to buy a Plex Pass or Remote Watch Pass to stream media on your home network, then there is either a Plex or network configuration issue

not for nothing i have used plex for a very long time and i don’t usually post things but plex is really killing the experience with all this added crap started with why do we need to put streaming services to link stuff i for one hate that it clusters my stuff as well as plex movies i didn’t start using plex to watch free movies with a crap ton of ads i use it for my library the live
- Friends cannot download media, despite no restrictions
Had a friend create free Plex account I was able to Grant library access, with downloads enabled (Settings-> Server-> Manage Library Access->, User-> Restrictions-> Allow Downloads-> ENABLED), and they can see all content in the libraries I have shared with them They cannot download my media for offline airplane viewing

Do you have a server set up? Or are you trying to download the movies which are available for free in “Movies TV”? The latter cannot be downloaded
