As stated, indexing means that files, folders, and potentially file content can be found by Windows search Nothing to do with the internet or internet search Example: I have a test file containing 'aardvark' I have content indexing enabled With file explorer open at 'This PC' I can type aardvark in file explorer's search box, and the file is found almost instantly Similarly I can search
