Thanks for all these suggestions Yes the orphanage was a 4 year stint for my Dad after his Mum had died and his Dad couldn't work and look after the kids He took them out when he remarried in 1941 So these orphanages I assume were around in that time frame, 1936-41? Does anyone know who I could contact to find out about them?

Hi Lou ,I am trying to get information about st Joseph's orphanage tivoli rd ,my mother was there in 1956 till 1959 she would have been about 10 yrs of age when she went in,I was just wondering how your mother got on while she was in there as my mother seems to have blocked a lot of things out and has only just started to talk about been in there recently

Thanks for the reference I think it has to be the right place, I haven't seen any mention of another orphanage there These will be the education records rather than the admission records which are what I'm really interested in However it might be worth looking at when I get to the National Archives Best wishes halhawk

Does anyone know if there are records of the boys from this orphanage? I am trying to find out about my ancestor Ernest Macklin who died on 13th June 1926 with St Vincents as his address aged 16 I cannot trace the death of either of his parents James and Bridget (they are all in the 1911 census) so am wondering what happened to them all
