Lubriplate 105, or white engine assembly grease, can be used in LU's It was the standard lubricant for this application until the petroleum companies started marketing the hypoid oils for marine applications It won't emulsify with water like hypoid oil, but it is no substitute if your outboards specs call for more modern oil

Re: Lubriplate 105 in geacase? 35hp Lark Lindy, How milky is the oil? Hypoid oil by it's very design is supposed to emulsify any water that gets in there so that the oil will continue to lubricate It takes a long time for water to settle out of it

I use Lubriplate 105 (engine rebuilding grease for initial run-in) in my older bush hog type rotary, tractor mounted mowers with a leaking shaft seal Thick enough to stay in place, thin enough for the rotating gears to sling it out where it's needed

Re: Best Gear Oil for Lower unit Actually, none of the above That motor takes "Outboard Gear GREASE" No longer made, most people use Lubriplate 105 Motor Assembly Grease, available from NAPA stores
