The MCU replacement procedure in toolbox is not very user friendly, and only works if you start it while old mcu is still in the car so you can copy data from it If old MCU doesn’t work at all then you will need to tow the car to Tesla after installing the new MCU anyway

In this case, again, if you're paying to replace the MCU anyway, upgrading to MCU2 probably makes more sense The navigation data is stored on a replaceable SD card In this case, perhaps you could get away with paying for the repair, but MCU1 life isn't generally that great regardless, so it still might make sense to consider the MCU2 upgrade

I got myself a 2017 Model S 75 MCU and have a spare IC that I plan on reflashing so firmware matches and they fully work together! Current plan:-Get MCU and IC to communicatr and not throw the "Software Update Required" Error-Get CAN data figured out to control it and get rid of faults (one already done)
