I have recently started reproducing exact copies of the late Series Alpines Tiger VIN tags or plates I have not drilled the rivet holes so that you can match the factory holes originally drilled into your cowl

They are found on an aluminum tag that is 81mm x 11 mm riveted to the cowl of the car near the VIN plate and to my knowledge bear no resemblance to either the VIN number or the engine number I Think Norm Miller is the only one who can provide us with correct Chassis Codes for our Tigers

The Vin plate is removed from the Tiger and placed upon the top of the firewall in on the Alpine The car is then taken down to the local DMV with the Tiger title, the Alpine bill of sale, and the rebuild application Following an integrity and safety inspection, a replacement title is issued with the Tiger Vin # Voila

Welcome: There should be a Serial # and JAL # on the pass firewall cowl There also should be a TAG # on the right side of the tranny main case (HEHE or HEH-CF with numbers) The hardest # will be the rear stamping under the pinion casting Lots of carb cleaner and a hard toothbrush should clean it up enough for a read (or not)

Both the VIN and JAL tag are present and the VIN corresponds with the information I have been able to find for a Tiger I have not been able to trace the JAL number (JAL is the Jensen body number assigned to Tigers)

The vin tag is a little more complicated… there are three different fonts for the characters as these were supplied to Jensen (who assembled the cars) originally the tags would have been missing the last one, or possibly 2 digits of the chassis number as well as the color code and the actual engine number

There are no secondary or hidden VIN on any Sunbeam Alpine or Tiger, which makes them extremely difficult to identify if the tags are removed
