If you are looking for decent mic's on the cheap, just buy regular SM 57's from guitar center Get at least two, so you know if one goes bad or sucks to begin with If you need distant mic's on the cheap (Overheads), get old Sony Electrete mic's If you take the transofrmer out of SM57's, they work better on kick or if you have a clean gain preamp
