You could also try more classic 'gruit' herbs like mugwort, yarrow, sweet gale, etc The gruits can be a lot of fun, but take an adventurous spirit They will challenge what you thought beer tastes like on some level For a first try, I would suggest an english brown with some sweet gale instead of hops
