In CVA's book that comes with the Paramount, it states that you should use Blackhorn 209 powder Specifically 140gr by volume or 98gr by weight with the 280 gr bullet

The new CVA Paramount looks like a great option for a factory rifle New regulations in Colorado require bullets to be min 50cal for elk and 45 for deer Round balls need to be bigger I want to go with 50 in case I want to hunt elk with it I will have to look at the CVA Most in lines I looked at have no tang to put a peep on

The average muzzleloader is 300 yd capable with bh209 The 45 50 cal custom guns ,ultimate or paramount type are a little longer 500 600 or so if everything is right

The CVA Paramount is a pretty nice production muzzleloader Even better with aftermarket modifications like I talked about in a thread here on LRO It worked very will over 450 yards last year on a Wyoming antelope I'll use it here in Utah sometime

The BC makes it tough at that distance Blackhorn 209 I think came out the year after I found the right combo for this one For elk size animals I wouldn't shoot it further than 200 yards unless velocity was higher Have a CVA Paramount Pro 50 cal I am doing workup on now for longer distances on elk
