- Precocious Udder? - Homesteading Forum
I do not reccomend milking precocious animals If someone DOES milk them, I suggest managing them as a real dairy animal - milking 2+ times per day, teat wash, teat dip, nutritional support all is necessary for a lactating animal Preventing mastitis includes clean dry bedding, adequate post milking dip, and regular milkout I think where many people go wrong is milking them out once or twice

- Nesting box to rabbit size ratio? - Homesteading Forum
I was thinking about this I know you prefer the metal boxes because they are easier to sanitize, but perhaps if they sat inside a simple wooden frame made of 2x4s, they would be more stable The wood would also provide a bit of a step back up for those precocious popples who pop out early Just an idea
- Goat that wont dry up having problems | Homesteading Forum
The other thing I have noticed with precocious milkers is they will tend to take a kid that is not theirs if you have a doe that is not keeping up with her kids I had a doe this year that took a kid that was not hers with no coaxing what so ever That was a good thing for us as mom just could not feed her triplets
- Nigerian Pygmy cross? - Homesteading Forum
Any pros or cons to mixing the two? I know a Pygmy is a meat breed and Nigerians are a dairy breed, so I wonder how they would work together
