Perusall support seems to be ok, not great It only happens via email, you can’t just speak to someone if you are having a problem with it I tried to speak with someone at my university’s teaching and learning center but they directed me to the Perusall site TDLR: I can’t decide if Perusall is really worth the trouble

I used perusall in high school and it’s actually not that hard once you understand what it wants (although before that i remember my whole class failed the assignment and our teacher had to explain it again) all you need to do is make sure you leave a lot of comments (for me 1 per page was usually enough to get a 9 10) and don’t repeat yourself also try to make sure your comments are at

perusall is annoying, but your experience also depends on your professor my professors understand how difficult the grading system is and they’ve changed it so that it’s easier to get full points i like the collaboration that’s in perusall as well i think it’s a good system, but professors need to understand the platform more to make

Yep Perusall highlights and flags text that has been copied+pasted into the app, and while in the past it seems these were mostly folks who were annotating in a separate document and pasting into Perusall (probably so they could polish them up before submitting), this semester there were at least two folks who I am almost positive were habitual AI users who were getting flagged

I've used Perusall for this exact purpose - ungraded social annotation A couple years ago, some of my colleagues and I offered this as an option for students to 'participate' if they were in quarantine, did not feel safe in class, and so on There was no penalty if students did not use it I do not recall how I set this up

Perusall encourages quantity over quality for annotations, so instead of meaningful conversations, we just get a bunch of "I thought this was also cool" comments on different parts of the passage Anyway, as you can tell, I don't like Perusall
