It's soldered onto the display panel with part of it branching off to the backlight layer To repair this ribbon you'd typically attach another flex cable at the point it was ripped off (cutting a bit of it off to make a neat connection)- this would be done via scraping a bit of it to reveal the copper wires and then attaching part of another flex cable
