- SG61 vs. standard - Gibson USA - Gibson Brands Forums
The newer SG Standards (T) don't have the horn tapering or the deeper wider beveling between the horn tip and neck The HP version have retained the wider deeper bevels, and the horn tapering Why they make 2 different body spec's, I don't know, unless some prefer the shallower narrower beveling, and no horn tapering
- SG - Vintage vs New - Gibson USA - Gibson Brands Forums
that depends alot on your budget and what you are looking for I recently scored a '01 SG Special off ebay in near perfect condition with a new hardshell case shipped for $500 00, thats a great guitar IMO, the inlays and cosmetic things werent that critical to me so a special worked great for me, I still GAS for a 61 reissue but they are SO expensive and at this time my budget wont allow that

Full distortion turns the SG '61 Reissue into a rude monster that will tackle Metal and Punk with a fury In Conclusion, the SG '61 Reissue has the looks and tone of an original with the attitude to back it up It stands side by side with the Les Paul as one of the most versatile guitars Gibson has ever built

- Angus Young Signature - Gibson USA - Gibson Brands Forums
Never played a '61 or a '71 but I played a late standard SG and where talking about two totally different guitars! Different feel, different sound and very different look! The Angus has got the narrowest and slimmer neck you can find on Gibsons and it's got an Angus signature humbucker that will make your AC DC covers sound pretty similar to
