- Making a Sinew-Backed Bow - Bushcraft USA Forums
Set up the work area, made a batch of somewhat thicker glue, and soaked a few threads of sinew to get started: I like to lay sinew in single threads for precision the backing process takes quite a while! The first course took over an hour to lay down Once this dries, I will add two more similar courses before tillering out the bow
- How to use sinew? - Bushcraft USA Forums
Most often I use sinew as is after separating it like the wrap on the bait bottle After wetting it I lashed it It secures the leather thong which holds the plug Artificial sinew is convenient and I use it on a lot of leather projects Last year I used it to complete an atlatl dart

Once the sinew has cured, it will really flex the handle area due to the string leverage when braced Conversely, if you use a "long string" to pre-tiller, keep the tips a little stiff before the first brace or they will be whippy
- artificial sinew vs waxed linen | Bushcraft USA Forums

I scraped the sinew back to remove some of the larger ridges, adjusted the bow's tiller a tiny bit, and fine-sanded the whole thing The skin was washed to remove excess salt, and is being fully re-hydrated Next I'll mix up some glue, size the back again, cut the skin to rough size, and get ready to glue up
- Sealing Sinew? - Bushcraft USA Forums
It will NOT work on artificial sinew That stuff is made of polypropylene and or nylon Neither is very hydroscopic and they artificial sinew is heavily impregnated with wax I had to make up a hundred movie prop arrows that looked relatively accurate historically in the camera, so I used artificial sinew over the fletchings of turkey wing

Hide glue and sinew create a matrix of sorts, in this process whats really happening is the glue and sinew fuse into a makeshift tendon along the back of the bow This gives the bow strength and power by creating an organic spring, fused with the bows back, and raising the neutral plain of the back up into the springy sinew
- bow string from sinew? - Bushcraft USA Forums
I have used artificial sinew twice, once on a string jig and once flemmish twist I was told you use the same proportions as b50, but I added a couple more wraps strands just to be safe yucaforlife94 is right it comes out fat, but it works really good and looks great thanks for the traditional method bowguy!
