- Formula for salinity correction - Reef2Reef
A=Current Tank Salinity C=New Water Salinity t=Total aquarium volume r=Removed volume of water R=Remaining volume of water D-Desired Salinity (edited) Here's are some examples of it working Say you have a 80 gallon tank, the salinity is sky high at 1 030, and you're wanting to do a water change to correct it
- Salinity - PSU vs PPT | Reef2Reef
An older salinity scale is ppt (10-3), where salinity is defined by “the salt content is the weight of the inorganic salts contained in 1 kg of seawater if all bromide and iodide are replaced by an equivalent amount of oxides” (Knudsen, 1901) In summary, I should aim for a PSU of 35 (vs 35 PPT)
- Hydros Salinity experiences | Reef2Reef
Sorry for posting 2 threads back to back but separate issues A few months back I added a salinity probe to my Hydros ecosystem I let it run for about a month then calibrated it according to the instructions, and about a month ago recalibrated for a second time It is still all over the place
- 1. 025 vs 35 ppt - often used interchangeably? | Reef2Reef
I rejoined the hobby back ~2016, and everyone seemed to agree that 1 025 was the perfect salinity Lately though, more and more I've been hearing that 35 ppt is what you should target for mixed reef or SPS dom It's strange to me that these are often used interchangeably, since 1 025 is really
- Apex Salinity Probe Replacement Options | Reef2Reef
Does anyone know if there is a cheaper solution for the salinity probes? The only ones I have seen have been in the $120 range and the Neptune salinity probe has bad reviews Any info on cheaper or even just better probes for the price is much appreciated Thanks
- Ideal Salinity | Reef2Reef
If the organisms in the aquarium are from brackish environments with lower salinity, or from the Red Sea with higher salinity, selecting something other than 35 ppt may make good sense Otherwise, I suggest targeting a target salinity of 35 ppt (specific gravity = 1 0264; conductivity = 53 mS cm)
- Refractometers And Salinity Measurement | Reef2Reef
Refractive Index and Salinity Aquarists can use the effects that added salts have on the refractive index of a water solution to determine the salinity of reef aquarium water As the salinity of seawater rises, the amount of salt added rises, so the refractive index rises Figure 1 plots seawater’s refractive index vs its salinity
- Salinity - ppt vs S. G. (Need Help Knowing How To Properly Measure)
So I got a Hanna Salinity Tester which by default is in ppt and the calibration packets are by ppt but can also measure by S G Now, I heard that ppt is a more accurate measurement (correct me if I'm wrong) since it's based solely on salt, while S G factors in temperature (which gets
