If you stop the Sophos System Protection Service it will flush a new one though which is good So one option, with tamper protection disabled, would be to stop the SSP service, start the service and leave it running for say 2 mins or while you have a performance issue then stop it again so it flushes a new file

Basically, we'll lose all network connectivity from to a remote site (pinging) but Sophos Dashboard Firewall Management will say the VPN Site-to-site is up To fix, I'll just go to the remote firewall via Sophos Central, edit the connection profile (description), and save it, forcing the connection to close and re-connect

Never used the SSVM version from Sophos, but I can say with absolute certainty, they are not as bad as you say Support can be pots, no doubt there, but I have been using their solutions for almost 2 decades now, and I have watched it consistently stop threats, bad(no, terrible) user habits, web threats, and every ransomware attempt against it
