Yes You can create in ST and export your tracks as wav and MIDI and load them into Ableton I think this works best if you set up some great mastering modules ahead of time in AL and try mixing groups of instruments as you load them into your new AB project

If I were to recommend something based on your coming from Soundtrap, I feel like Studio One, Cubase, and Bitwig are probably the most similar in terms of layout and workflow Ableton wouldn't be too rough a transition either Reaper might be kind of difficult because it doesn't come with a lot in the way of stock instruments effects

Spent a couple of years using soundtrap, its great for beginners Easy to use, introduces you to the basics of music production, you can collaborate in real time with others They have a wide range of instruments, loops, and samples, but what you can do with the sounds is rather limited compared to other softwares

With that being said, I get the general impression from people online that Soundtrap just isn't a good DAW, beginner or otherwise I can't really find any concise reason on it though-- a lot of people complain about the price, however the price seems pretty reasonable and it's incredibly cheap in a school setting (something like 6$ a seat a year)
- Anybody have a cheap but better option than soundtrap?
Now, I use Adobe Audition version 1 5 instead It's an older version, they have Adobe Audition version 6 now, but 1 5 is a reasonable price, and there's no monthly fees involved, and the program is offline So unlike soundtrap, you don't need to be online to use it I am much happier with Adobe Audition 1 5
