There is Spruce Peak (at Stowe) but its flooded with racers Stowe is expensive, long drive, parking s*cks, and very crowded So many better places to learn to ski in VT for a positive experience Mt Snow, Okemo, Stratton, Mt Ellen at Sugarbush, Pico at Killington These are fun and mellow to build confidence and have a good overall experience

Stowe I would imagine has less of the sort of terrain you're looking for and is more crowded and farther away however, it is possible for stowe to pick up snow at that point in december that would be rain at mt snow or okemo

Not Better than Stowe, no real comparison to Utah West Coast That said it offers a fun day of typical east coast skiing that is not too far
