13 votes, 14 comments true Tone mapping "Off" is rather mislabelled It actually does static tone mapping with a roll off of the highlights based on the static HDR metadata (e g a 4000 nit film will roll off earlier than a 1000 nit one)

That's why I wanted to try madvr instead of regular solutions with ffmpeg or handbrakes tone mapping feature On the Ffmpeg subreddit someone pointed out that I could use Libplacebo with ffmpeg I played a bit around with it today and even though the results look pretty good, madvr is still better regarding tonemapping in my opinion
