If you get the CB completely saturated they tend not to take flame from a firesteel as readily I normally take a CB and a gob of vaseline and work it in with my fingers This time of year it helps my poor old dry cracked hands anyway Leaving some cotton fiber "dry" helps it take flame easier faster and the vaseline helps it burn longer
