Being a soccer referee can be both rewarding and fulfilling To become a US Soccer Federation (USSF) Referee you are required to attend an Entry Level Clinic given by a specially trained and certified (by USSF, certified by WASRC) instructor There is no exception even if you were a player or coach One New Referee Grade is offered in Washington:

The WASRC will assist in managing Fitness Tests and Evaluations when requested Selection for the National program is exclusively managed by the Professional Referees Organization (PRO)

- WASRC - Recertifying Referees
This is a USSF mandate to call attention to the age of the referees and hopefully reduce referee abuse of youth referees It is alright to use last year's badge until you receive this year's badge It is only required that the WASRC website shows you are certified for this year Everyone will agree it is nice to have the badge, though

WASRC and local Referee Associations hold clinics throughout the year that are "Supplemental Training" These are not for certification, re-certification, upgrading or fitness tests
