Been contacting a lot of surgeons lately, and all of them so far either don't accept BCBS or they're not in network I'm getting really discouraged I'm pulling my surgeon info from the Find a Surgeon DS Facts lists mainly, and I contact the ones that are in the midwest or east

Wellmark covers the DS if your BMI is 50+, so you should be covered Here is a LINK to the WLS policy Does anyone know if Wellmark requires a 6 month Dr supervised diet? The policy doens't specifically say that, but one of the surgeons I consulted said they do I am looking at getting the VSG, but they still consider it investigational

My husband's insurance is Wellmark BC BS and it still covers WLS with 3 years of physician supervised weight loss attempts, but his employer has a written exclusion to ALL treatments of obesity, whether surgery or prescription drugs, or weight loss programs His employee benefits handbook is worded the exact same way
