- Consensus on Headrush FRFR-108? - The Gear Page
There are just certain low frequencies where the 108 said "no thanks" and distorted, even at pretty low volumes I definitely didn't need the extra size of the 112 TS312 or the extra volume, but turned down it sounds much fuller, clearer, and can handle non-guitar applications better as well
- Tele guitar build - The Gear Page
Several good books on electric guitar building in general: Make Your Own electric Guitar Bass - Dennis Waring David Raymond Make Your Own Electric Guitar - Melvyn Hiscock (forward by Brian May) Build Your Own Electric Guitar - Bill Foley (this one's mostly about assembly from available parts) I'm in the process of assembling a tele from parts
- PRS without a truss rod? - The Gear Page
I have one guitar, a Strat built by a luthier in the early 90s No truss rod I did contact the builder at some point, and I also have an acoustic from him (that does have truss rod) To add to that, it's not a thick neck One of my thinnest, actually (one previous owner had work done on the neck)
- Longtime Helix and Fractal User - FM3 Review | The Gear Page
There was something smoother about the way it handled the transition from clean to breakup on the guitar volume control That was something I hadn't previously been unhappy with in my Helix patch, but after that test I tried some other Helix Marshall models and found one that did the transition the same way as the FM3 so that ended up being a draw
- Nacho Les Paul Conversion has arrived | The Gear Page
I did reply in the "Nacho Guitar" thread, however I thought this may grow legs views on a thread of it's own if you are interested in this project My Nacho Burst arrived Friday, #15 Billy Gibbons and Redd got early ones and a few other notables I bet I wanted to add, having a few of Nacho
- Finger Ease VS Fast Fret - The Gear Page
i have always been told that its not good for fretboards and it gunks up your neck ive never really wanted to put it on any guitars of mine i do just fine with using a silver polishing cloth to wipe down the strings hardware frets, then wipe the rest down with a microfiber cloth
- Collings LP style guitar or Gibson Custom Shop LP?
With the significant change in Gibson management, things have tightened up both considerably and in reality in the QC dept , for production and Custom shop guitars (CS guitars also reverted to 50's style build features, like long tenon and other small details a while back and that has been retained)
- When to use linear taper or audio taper pots? | The Gear Page
You can see that by looking at them And god only knows why the tolerances are so broad in a component where the actual value is quite significant Honestly, if I get a smooth pot of the right value for my guitar, I don't even fight for a proper taper anymore I'd love to see some startup put the "big boys" out of the pot business
